As of version 0.7, the WP-Gallery2 plugin can use AJAX calls to load the content of galleries. What this means is that the page can load faster and the user is presented with a screen before the gallery content has been retrieved from the Gallery2 site. When the content become available, it is dynamically inserted and displayed into the page. This new feature would be particularly useful for users who have slow connections to their Gallery2 site.
The Gallery page is currently running with AJAX calls enabled, so you can see how it would work and you can download the latest version of the plugin from the WP-Gallery2 Plugin Project page.
